ODD sharing feature provides a function to be able to access DVD drive in other computers through a network.
“Host PC” is referred as a PC which shares information in DVD drive. “Client PC” is referred as a PC which access shared DVD drive through a network.
You need to install applications for ODD sharing feature to use the function, ODD sharing feature Host for Host PC and ODD sharing feature Client for Client PC.
Also you need to complete each installation both Host PC and Client PC before using ODD sharing feature function. This is because ODD sharing feature allocates a drive using a network.
Please refer the following table to see what is supported and what is not supported by ODD sharing feature.

You need to install ODD sharing feature Host for Host PC and ODD sharing feature Client for Client PC before using the function.
If you have already installed the applications, you don’t need to take this step.
1) How to install “ODD sharing feature Client”.
(A) Start your PC and log in Administrator Account, Administrator or a member of Administrators.
(B) Click “Start” button on bottom left on the screen and open “Start” menu.
(C) Choose your OS and follow the steps.
Windows® 7
1. Click “Computer” in “Start” menu and open “Computer” folder.
2. Choose the drive and the folder you saved this software.
Windows® XP
1. Click “My Computer” in “Start” menu and open “My Computer” folder.
2. Choose the drive and the folder you saved this software.
(D) Click “Setup” or “Setup.exe” to start the installation.
(E) Follow the instructions on the screen.
2) Install “ODD sharing feature Host”
(A) Please check following points before installing.
1. Please complete “ODD sharing feature Client” installation and have Client PC ready before installing “ODD sharing feature Host” onto Host PC.
2. Follow the procedure to install “ODD sharing feature Host”
Copy “ODD sharing feature Host” installer from Client PC to a USB memory and start the installer on Host PC. Prepare a USB memory (or some other media) in order to copy files from Client PC to Host PC. Those media needs capacity of more than 10MB.
(B) Step1: Copy “ODD sharing feature Host” installer
Following steps must be carried out on Client PC.
1. Start and log in Client PC.
2. Click “ODD sharing feature Client” icon on Desktop and menu screen appears.
3. Click “Copy Host PC Program Installer” button. You will get a message to let you know copying process is started. Click “Yes” to go next step. “Copy for Installer of Host PC” window opens.
4. Choose a folder in the USB memory (or other media you prepared) to copy “ODD sharing feature Host” and click “OK”, then copying starts.
5. If “Finished copying the Installer.” appears, copying “ODD sharing feature Host” has completed.
(C) Step2: Install “ODD sharing feature Host”
Following steps must be carried out on Host PC.
1. Start your PC and log in Administrator Account, Administrator or a member of Administrators.
2. Set the media you copied “ODD sharing feature Host” installer to Host PC.
3. Click “Start” button on left bottom on the screen and open “Start” menu.
4. Choose your OS and follow the steps.
Windows® 7
(a) Click
“Computer” in “Start” menu and open
“Computer” folder.
(b) Choose the drive and folder you set the media with “ODD sharing
feature Host” installer by “2”.
Windows Vista®
(a) Click “Computer” in “Start” menu and open
“Computer folder”.
(b) Choose the drive and folder you set the media with “ODD sharing
feature Host” installer by “2”.
Windows® XP
(a) Click “My Computer” in “Start” menu and open
“My Computer”.
(b) Choose the drive and folder you set the media with “ODD sharing
feature Host” installer by “2”.
5. Click “Setup” or “Setup.exe” to start the installation.
6. Follow the instructions on the screen.
3)
ODD sharing feature Host installation
steps using USB Client Port.
* This installation steps are only applicable to a PC which supports USB Client
Port.
(A) Please check below first.
1. Client PC and host PC have already booted up and logged in as an administrator.
(B) Step 1: Connecting USB Client Port
* This step is done on client PC.
1. Connect USB Client Port to host PC. USB Client Feature starts.
2. At USB Client Feature, click Install ODD sharing feature. USB Client Feature closes.
(C) Step 2: Installing ODD sharing feature
* This step is done on host PC.
1. When above (B)–2 is done, new CD-ROM device is detected. Auto run menu appears, and click ‘Run EasyShare.exe’. If OS of host PC is Windows XP, EasyShare.exe is run automatically.
2. Complete the installation according to the message shown in message windows.
Firstly you need to complete setting on Host PC to be able to share DVD Drive with Client PC. Then access from Client PC to shared DVD Drive on Host PC. Following steps explain how to set up Host PC and Client PC.
1) Share DVD Drive in Host PC
(A) Start “ODD sharing feature Host” and set up window appears.
(B) Click “Settings” button.
(C) Choose “Shared Drive” and “Authorized user for the sharing” then type in “Sharing Drive Name.
(D) Click “OK” and the screen goes back to “ODD sharing feature Host” menu.
(D) Click “Share Drive” button. “User Account Control Menu” appears. Click “Continue”.
2) Access shared DVD Drive from Client PC to Host PC
(A) Start “ODD sharing feature Client” and set up window appears.
(B) Click “Settings” button.
(C) Type in “Destination Computer name or IP address” which appears on setting screen of “Computer Name” in “ODD sharing feature Host”.
(D) Type in “Shared Drive name on the destination” which you already set in “Shared Drive Name” in “ODD sharing feature Host.”
(E) Click “OK” and the screen goes back to “ODD sharing feature Host” menu.
(F) Click “Connect Share Drive”.
(G) “User name” and “Password” window comes up.
(H) Enter “User Name” and “Password” which already set in “ODD sharing feature Host” and click “OK”.
To share DVD drive using USB Client Port, connect USB Client Port and run ODD sharing feature Host and ODD sharing feature Client.
1) On client PC, connect USB Client Port to host PC. USB Client Port starts.
2) At USB Client Feature, click ‘ODD sharing feature and USB Memory Feature’ or ‘ODD sharing feature’.

On host PC, please do below
step depending on installed OS.
For Windows(R) 7 or Windows Vista(R) users
On host PC, auto run menu appears, and click ‘Run EasyShare.exe’.
For Windows XP users
EasyShare.exe is run automatically, so this step is not necessary. In case auto
run menu appears, click ‘Run EasyShare.exe’.
4) On host PC, ODD sharing feature Host starts.
5) Share DVD drive following the same steps described in 1) of above ‘How to Share DVD drive’.
6) On client PC, ODD sharing feature starts.
7) Share DVD drive following the same steps described in 2) of above ‘How to Share DVD drive’.
“ODD sharing feature” applies sharing function for files and folders in OS and change the setting to be able to access Client PC to DVD Drive on Host PC.
If you use security software, security software function to block unauthorized access from other computers often does not allow you to access shared files and folders on OS. In this case you are unable to use “ODD sharing feature” and fail to access and share DVD drive.
Please refer following instructions to disable this function in security software to use “ODD sharing feature”.
To activate file sharing setting, add Host PC and Client PC to each “Trust Zone”. How to add a computer to “Trust zone”, please refer to your Internet Security’s manual for the detail.
Complete setting to share files and folders on both Host PC and Client PC before you start using them.
