Battery information

Set up the capacity of the battery

You can improve the battery life span by reducing the battery capacity. Note that if you reduce the battery capacity, the battery run time will also be reduced.
The battery is set to fully charge by default. You can decrease the amount of the battery charge to 80% using the following procedure.

  1. Select [Start] -> [All Programs] -> [Battery Utility], then click [Battery Configuration]. The [Battery Configuration - Battery Utility] window appears.
  2. After starting the [Battery Configuration - Battery Utility] window, follow the instructions that appear in the window.

Setting up ECO Sleep mode

You can reduce power consumption by changing the AC adapter's standby mode.

Note that if you set the Low-power standby mode of the ECO Sleep, battery power will still be consumed while in sleep mode, but total power consumption is reduced because the battery power consumed is less than that from the AC adapter.

Note that ECO Sleep mode will not be in effect if Wake up on LAN or Anytime USB charge (if supported by your system) is enabled.

The ECO Sleep is set to Normal mode by default. You can change the mode by following steps.

  1. Select [Start] -> [All Programs] -> [Battery Utility], then click [ECO Sleep]. The [ECO Sleep - Battery Utility] window appears.
  2. Follow the instructions that appear in the [ECO Sleep - Battery Utility] window.

Setting up the discharge setting of the battery

Using this utility, you can change the discharge setting of the battery. In the discharge setting, there is Parallel discharge and Serial Discharge. The difference between the two methods is as follows.

The discharge setting is set to Parallel discharge mode by default. You can set up the discharge mode of the battery using the following procedure.

  1. Select [Start] -> [All Programs] -> [Battery Utility], then click [Battery discharge setting]. The [Battery discharge setting - Battery Utility] window appears.
